In-The-Wild & In-The-Zoo
An in-the-wild virus is one that has been reported by at least two official participants of the WildList. This list is maintained and updated monthly to provide some sort of benchmark against which to gauge the detection capability. Though there are over 60,000 known viruses, only approximately 1000 viruses are spreading in-the-wild.
Zoo viruses are those not listed on the official in-the-wild list, they are collections of viruses exist in the laboratory.
